AIR QUALITY ANSWERS
How often should I have my furnace and ductwork cleaned and inspected?
The EPA doesn’t have any recommendations on how often you should have your ductwork cleaned. Of course, they also don’t have guidelines as to when you should clean your carpet or windows. Many furnace and air duct cleaning companies will tell you that you should have it done annually. This is misleading. Some companies will even resort to "scare tactics". A reputable company will help you decide how often, based on your families health concerns, environment, pet dander, remodeling projects and personal preference. Service Air prefers to establish a long term, trusting relationship with you, regardless of what your needs may be.
I keep my home very clean. Could the air in my home still not be clean?
Yes. Consider that the average home generates 40 pounds of dust for every 1,500 square feet of space. While regular home cleaning is an excellent measure to reduce exposure to irritants and pollutants, it's simply just not possible to remove enough of the material by hand to make your home's air as comfortable and healthy as it can be.
COOLING ANSWERS
Does the refrigerant in my air conditioner need to be changed?
No. Refrigerant will not become old or wear out. It will last the lifetime of the air conditioner.
HEATING ANSWERS
How long will it take to have a new furnace installed in my home?
A typical furnace replacement should not take longer than one day, however, each install is different. Service Air will give you an accurate estimate of the time we will begin your installation and the amount of time we will require in your home to complete your installation to minimize disruption to your daily activities.
I have a 25-year-old furnace that is working fine. Should I still consider replacing it?
Yes. The keyword in your question is "consider". Significant improvements in furnace technology have occurred in the last 25 years that could give you a significant return on your "investment" (ROI) in a new heating and/or cooling system. Service Air can help you with a FREE inspection of your current system as well as make a FREE analysis of your home. We will then be able to provide you with the necessary information and recommendations to help you determine if it is time to replace or not. Service Air will also appraise you of other factors to consider which may make replacement even more attractive to you; such as improvements in air quality and any applicable manufacturer rebates.
